A confectionery category review meeting turns sales data into buying decisions. Without a regular review rhythm, slow products remain in the range, fast sellers run out and seasonal lessons are forgotten before the next buying cycle.
Start with the scorecard
Review sales value, unit sales, gross profit, inventory turn, stockouts and markdowns. The meeting should begin with facts rather than individual opinions about products.
Identify top and bottom performers
Look at both winners and weak SKUs. Strong products may deserve more facings or stock, while weak products need an action: improve, test or exit.
Review availability issues
A low-selling product may actually have suffered repeated stockouts. Separate weak demand from weak availability before making range decisions.
Check inventory aging
Flag products with excessive weeks of supply or approaching best-before dates. Early action protects more margin than late clearance.
Review promotions
Compare promotional uplift with margin impact and remaining stock. Promotions should be evaluated on profit and sell-through, not just unit volume.
See Confectionery Promotion Planning.
Discuss supplier performance
Review fill rate, lead-time reliability, dating and unresolved claims. Operational problems can affect category performance just as much as consumer demand.
Look ahead to the next eight to twelve weeks
Include upcoming holidays, campaigns, new-product launches and supplier order deadlines.

Leave with actions and owners
Every issue should produce a clear action, owner and date. Otherwise the same discussion returns next month unchanged.
A short disciplined review beats a large annual reset
Monthly category management helps buyers correct problems while they are still small and keeps the assortment aligned with real demand.
